My brother's "glass" chess pieces. I'm actually some what pleased with it. The black background and such. The pieces seem to radiate as well. I'm not quote sure if it looks blurred or not. Tell me what you think!
Anyways, you like it? Fave it! If you don't, tell me why by commenting! And/or giving me a critique. Please do!
My favorite part of this photo is the lighting of the pieces and how unique that is. It looks like it's coming from within, but at the same time it looks like the light is also shining on it making it even more interesting. I'm surprised that these pieces are glass, though given that information I'd have to guess it's frosted glass or something. As for the concept, I love it but it doesn't seem as clear to me, partly because I don't play chess and thus I get the queen and king confused, but also by the pieces themselves. For example, if the queen and king pieces were more elaborate perhaps - though that deals with the subjects, and you used what you had. The main thing I would change would be the cropping, as the queen gets too close to the border, almost touching it.
Overall, very nice job. The lighting is fantastic and is what I believe makes this piece really stand out.
I love the concept and composition. The pieces seem to glow from inside rather than light shining through them ( if you know what I mean ) My only criticism would be that they are a littel blurred, if the both pieces were crystal sharp and in focus it would be an even better shot as the pieces would have more clarity.
The translucence of the chess pieces is what makes this image for me. The light doesn't simply shine through them as it would with clear glass, they sort of `condense' it, if that makes sense!!
I've had this in my Messages for months trying to figure out exactly how I feel about it... On one hand it's a really clean photo with powerfull black/white and dark/light contrast, yet I don't think concept really speaks extremely loudly to me.. However, it has stayed in my inbox for so long - so obviously you caught my eye.. :-D
Okay, major fail on my part. Ek! First I'd like to thank you for commenting on my photo considering that it was in your inbox for quite some time.
When I took this picture, the outcome actually quite surprised me. I had taken it in my room.. nothing fancy and the background, well I thought it would be sharp, but surprisingly it came out soft and kind of blended in... As for the concept well... I think you may be right.
Overall this photo is obviously not the best, more like a practice to improvement kind of thing.
Overall, very nice job. The lighting is fantastic and is what I believe makes this piece really stand out.
